Mendoza - Day 4

On Saturday night we invited Sergio to dinner at an Italian restaurant called La Marchigliana. It was supposed to be an amazing Italian restaurant, but Seth and I were both disappointed with our selections. The pasta of my lasagna bolognese was mushy and Seth did not enjoy his pasta with mushrooms. We headed home after dinner, as we had to get up early for Horseback Riding on Sunday.

The day started at 830 am when Andres, a representative from the Trekking Travel agency came to pick us up from our hotel. Our next stop was to pick up our fellow horseback riders Nick and Madelyn from London. They have spent the last 6 months travelling in South America - Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru and Argentina. They are returning home this Thursday. We arrived at the stable, got on our horses and were accompanied by our guide Fernando (17 years old). All in all it was a relaxing morning trekking along the mountain side with stops for Mate and some views. Our additional guide was a black dog named Negrita who followed alongside and behind the horses the entire way.

After we returned back to the city of Mendoza we spent our last few hours walking around and taking a few pictures. Most people had partied until the morning the night before, so the center was a little quieter than the day before.

That evening we met up with Nick and Madelyn again and ate dinner at a restaurant called 1884. The restaurant is very reknowned for its setting and its chef - Francis Mallman. 1884 is located at the Escorihuela Bodega (Vineyard) and the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. It has a large grassy front lawn with several tables and a parrilla. This outdoor area opens up into the restaurant itself. As it was a warm, pleasant night we opted to sit outside. The menu mostly consisted of excellent grilled meats and a few pastas. Overall it was delicious, recommendable even. Seth and I thoroughly enjoyed Nick and Madelyn's company.
