classes
more info about classes... i haven't posted any information in awhile so i thought i might just update some of the random things i have been doing. i started taking spanish classes about 1 month ago in something of a tutor/teacher setup. my teacher's name is Sylvina and i have been going usually 3 times a week for a total of about 6 hrs/wk. the classes are very informal, mainly just conversation back and forth with 1 hr here or there for the fun things like grammar and verb tenses! my teacher has provided me another perspective on argentine life and porteno opinions, she is a very nice person, who has provided with many articles, essays on argentine history, music, literature etc... another 'class' i started this week has been learning how to drive stick shift(manual transmission). kathy sort of forced my hand with this one, but i am glad she did. her instructor Maximilo is a very nice guy and i think i am about ready (if i had to!) to drive a manual car on my own.of course learning to drive in Bs. As. with their crazy manner of driving adds another element to the class. not sure if we have written about the way they drive here, but here is a short recap:
there are no stop signs - repeat - there are no stop signs, so all 4-way intersections are a game of chicken.
stoplights (red, yellow, green) are guidelines, use them at your own risk
pedestrians, try to avoid them but never slow down and yield the right of way
so you can see how driving here has its own flavor.
