Random Observations: Movie Theaters

Going to the movies here is an awesome experience. There are several reasons for this:
1 Stadium seating! - every theater we have been to here has stadium seating. It is great to be able to watch a movie without having to crane your neck to see over the person in front of you!
2 Assigned seating - imagine, having already purchased your movie tickets, being able to arrive to the theater 30 seconds before the movie begins and being guaranteed a great seat. Several of the theaters here have preassigned seating. At the time you purchase your ticket, you also choose your seat.
3 Great prices - The prices for movies here range from $5.50 to $12 pesos. In general the movies are cheaper Monday - Wednesday ($5.50 -$7 pesos). On Thursdays the new movies for the week open, and the prices therefore increase until Sundays. Still, as the peso is basically 3:1 the dollar, the prices for any of the movies are a bargain compared to the $10.50 US in NYC.
4 SUBTITLES - I LOVE how they subtitle as opposed to dubbing here. I think this is beneficial to the english speakers as well as spanish speakers. When I am watching a US movie here, I am also improving my spanish by watching the subtitles to see how they translate certain lines. The only movies they dub here are children's movies as they are too young to read and interpret the subtitles.

So far we have seen Finding Neverland, Hitch, Be Cool, Closer and Sideways here. Some movies come out a lot later here than they do in the states (Hitch just came out a few weeks ago).
