Catching up with Cousin Crystal and Aunt Yvonne
On our first night we Cape Town we ate at a touristy restaurant called The Africa Cafe. The theme is "African" food and they feature a communal feast in which you pay a set price and dish after dish typical of various countries/regions in Africa is brought to your table to share. We were brought about 15 different dishes, including Cape Mussel Curry, Congolese Spinach, Moroccan Lamb stew and cous cous, and Southern Africa Cassava Bread. The surprising part is that everything was very good! It is definitely a very touristy, gimmicky kindof place - the staff walks through the restaurant playing drums and singing every night around 930 - but I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Cape Town for the first time. The service was great, there were plenty of healthier vegetarian options, and there is absolutely no way that you can walk out of there hungry. If there are any dishes in particular that you liked, they will bring as much more as you would like.My family (Aunt Yvonne and Crystal) from Boston happened to be visiting Cape Town at the same time as us. I haven't seen them in quite sometime and it was crazy that we were able to meet up with them on a completely different continent!! They were there with a group of about 15 other adults from their local church in Boston. In addition to Cape Town they also spent time in Johannesburg, Kruger Park area and at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe (they had arrived about 10 days earlier and left Cape Town about 4 days after we arrived).
