Weekend Gatherings!

This past weekend social schedule on Saturday was a little busier than usual. During the day we were invited to a going away party for Camille. She is a friend from Washington DC who has been spending the last 4 years in Buenos Aires working for the Dept of Commerce. Her tour is coming to an end; she will first be returning to DC for a few months to polish up her Portugese and then starting a 4 year tour in RIO DE JANEIRO! Lucky Camille :-) The gathering was held on the grounds of the US Ambassador's residence. The residence itself was actually an old palace and on the grounds there is a patio with a barbecue, a swimming pool and tennis courts. Unfortunately the weather was a little overcast and too chilly for the pool. But the asado was delicious with wine, salads, provoleta (grilled provolone) and different cuts of beef. There were about 20 people at the gathering and speeches and toasts were made on Camille's behalf. Ambassador Lino Gutierrez was also at the party and made a special toast for Camille.

After Camille's party, we headed to Caballito (a neighborhood) as our friend Fernando invited over to his house for pizza, a movie and to meet a few other friends. Fernando is a wonderful host and we met Sebastian (El Frances is his nickname as he spent 10 years growing up in France), Joaquin and their girlfriends. We enjoyed an evening of camraderie, pizza and a movie - The Ladykillers (the movie starring Tom Hanks and Marlon Wayans - it was pretty AWFUL). We arrived home around 2am after a great evening.
