Buenos Aires Recommended Restaurants 2006
Those of you that know me, know that I am a big food fan. I would love to try every recommded restaurant in New York, but money (or lack thereof) becomes a huge factor there. With the exchange rate here in BsAs so favorable (3 pesos to 1 Dollar) this becomes less of an issue for those people with dollars. Meals are literally about 1/3 of the price they would be in NY.I recently purchased the book "Los Recomendados 2006" or the most recommended restaurants in Buenos Aires 2006. I have been browsing the book to come up with ideas for places to try out. On Wed night we tried Azema.

It the book is is listed as "an exotic bistro with french influenced food from the former colonies." I thought it was very good - sometimes it's nice to change it up from the barbecued/grilled steak. The menu had touches of India, Vietnam, Morocco, Thai and other exotic places. Seth and I had what were essentially summer rolls (spring rolls that aren't fried) and assorted Moroccan Salad to start. Both of which were good. More incredibly, the sauce that came with the summer rolls was spicy (very unusual in Argentina). As main courses Seth had the salmon, and I have a white fish in a yellow curry sauce that had bananas in it. It was listed as being spicy (the waiter even warned me as such), it wasn't at all, though. It's definitely a place I would go back to, especially when I am craving something a little different. There were a lot of curries that looked really good, and this place was packed when we left around 11:30 with more people waiting to be seated.
